Kalamazoo County Deputy Sheriff Death

Description:

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department requested HOPE teams for a deputy that died unexpectedly. The agency contact was very familiar with HOPE and our function since we recently sent teams to a line of duty memorial service there. Upon arrival, we met with members of the KCSD Victim Services Unit. The Unit members had worked with HOPE before. A room was reserved for our gear and breaks.

We staged in the church narthex and the entry outside the sanctuary. Our teams interacted with many people attending. We stood by at the back of the sanctuary during the service and again outside the sanctuary after the service. We also stood outside with the members of the department as the procession prepared to leave for the cemetery.
