National Memorial Service & Weekend Of Honor

Description: I was participating in the Honoree Children's Activity. It was well organized for having quite a few children of different ages. I was the only Hope team, however, there were about 5 additional teams from 2 other therapy dog organizations. We began in a circle (teams and kids) and the facilitators did an ice breaker. The kids then went to various tables to do a craft project. Wink and I stayed on the floor. Kids would come and go interacting with the dog. At times they would share some details about who they lost and why they were attending the weekend. The last part of the time, we gathered again in a circle and the facilitators encouraged any of the children to share a memory of their honoree.
