Sault Ste. Marie High School Mental Health Awareness Day (MI)

Description:

This was the second mental health awareness event at the high school that HOPE teams have participated in. Our teams have deployed to the high school for three student deaths in the past five years and this event is designed to help students with coping skills. Our teams staged in the media center along with several other mental health and well being agencies. Groups of students came in each class hour and interacted with the dogs and got information from the agencies represented.

We also had the opportunity to interact with students and staff who were affected by the prior student deaths and we were able to gauge their recovery to those events. Universally, they were appreciative of our past visits.
